Raser Motor Technology

Symetron™ Technology Applied to Axial Motors:
NEMA 184T Frame 3.7 kW Industrial Motor

Symetron™ Technology Can Enhance the Performance of Most Types of Motors. Manufacturing Licenses Now Available.

184T Motor Modified with Symetron™ Technology
As part of a test demonstration of Raser’s advanced motor technology, a 184T AC Induction motor was modified with Raser’s Symetron™ technology. The motor dimensions remained the same with only a slight change in weight. A series of dynamometer tests and additional validation testing by Advanced Energy, have verified dramatic improvements in performance of the motor.

Performance Test Results
The Symetron™ Enhanced version of the motor showed a dramatic 3 times improvement in pull out torque without compromising efficiency. In fact, when running the motor at 3X the rated torque, it maintained good efficiencies while the unmodified motor “pulled out” or failed when pushed to just over 2X the rated torque. The modified motor maintained 3X rated torque through out the entire speed range.

Key Observation
After being enhanced with Raser’s technology, a low cost 5 HP standard industrial motor performed with the torque and power needed to drive a typical electric vehicle.

Benefits of Symetron™ Drive System Technology:
More torque
  More power density
  Economical AC Induction Design
Lower Manufacturing Cost/kW
More Power/kg
Scalable
High Efficiency at High Speed/High Torque

Raser Received Two Technology Innovation of the Year Awards in 2007

"Raser was the only company to receive two awards this year from Frost & Sullivan, and we see this as being extremely unique. It is a testament to the company’s technology platform and innovations that are significant for not just one major industry, but two major industries, namely industrial and also plug-in hybrid technology."
