Raser Technologies Mentioned in Rolling Stone Article on PHEV Hybrids
Although rock & roll and new hybrid vehicle technology aren’t often reported in the same magazine, Rolling Stone recently featured a section subtitled “Welcome to the New Automotive Era” that reflects growing interest by a new generation increasingly concerned about rising gas prices, dependency
on petroleum energy and balancing these concerns with personal choices as consumers.
The subtitles “Muscle is in, Titanic Size Rides are Out,’ and “Beating the Gas Pump is All the Rage" articulates a growing trend by young readers toward hybrid cars that can avoid the gas station more often.
In the short article called "Hacking Hybrids" by David Kushner, Rolling Stone calls the “PHEV, one of the biggest advances in oil-weaning since, well, the hybrid itself.” The article goes on to
briefly mention Raser Technologies and their role in PHEV development with this quote: "These innovations don't come from the top down," says David West, spokesman for Raser Technologies, a Utah company leading the movement. "This is a revolution from the ground up."
The article points out increasing consumer demand for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles or PHEVs by illustrating successful PHEV conversions by CalCars, a non-profit consumer group that is advancing the development of PHEVs. CalCars is a member of the
Plug-in Hybrid Development Consortium (Hybrid
Consortium), a group of hybrid component manufacturers who are working together to accelerate commercial PHEV production by major automakers. Raser Technologies is a co-founder of the
Hybrid
Consortium. Next generation PHEVs could offer
consumers significant improvements in vehicle
petroleum mileage and total fuel economy.

of Rolling Stone Magazine, Issue 986, November 3,
2005 page 74.
